As the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Join District 2 Councilman William “Cruz” Shaw to explore the importance of social justice to our community.
Visitors are invited to learn more about social justice issues facing our community through group activities and books for all ages. Professor Beatrix Perez will present "Social Justice Heroes". Professor Perez is a sociology professor and social work advisor at San Antonio College. She teaches Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, Minority Women in the U.S., Race and Ethnic Relations, Qualitative Research Methods, Sociology of Aging, and more.
Children, teens, and adults are also invited to participate in a number of crafts and activities including making social justice hero buttons, choosing from the random acts of kindness jar, making peace plates, and creating multi-cultural paper dolls.
This month, check out books for family members of all ages, fiction and nonfiction, that focus on social justice. Visit guides.mysapl.org/mayorron for a list of book suggestions and to learn more about upcoming topics. Visit mysapl.org or call 210-207-2500 for a complete schedule of programs.
