This morning between one and two o’clock a waiter at the Southern Hotel was going across Main Plaza when he heard something heavy fall nearby and and turned to see if someone had thrown a rock at him, but instead of finding a stone he discovered a small piece of iron with a tag and letter attached. He then looked up and says he saw a large, cigar shaped object moving through the air almost over Wolfson’s store, going north, but could distinguish no lights on the object as the airship is reported to carry.

To appreciate Camp Travis, “you first have to see other army camps,” says Capt. C. M. Beck of the Mounted Royal Canadians, who has returned from Camp Gordon, Georgia, where he conducted a number of soldiers. Captain Beck said Camp Gordon was “knee deep in mud” and not as well situated as Camp Travis.
