Access the New York Times For Free Through the San Antonio Public Library

Direct access to online content is now available at any San Antonio Public Library location or from anywhere at mysapl.org

San Antonio Public Library visitors are invited to use any public computer at any library location to access online content from the New York Times. Users only need an email address to access the site, or can sign in using a Facebook or Google account. Users who would like to access from home simply need to visit mysapl.org/services to access the newspaper under “databases”. From there, cardholders will create an account and redeem a special code for one-day access that renews each day, so Library customers can access the New York Times every day!

Newspapers play an important role in democracy and maintaining an educated community. As a cornerstone of family, cultural, and civic life, it is vital for libraries to offer free and equitable access to trusted resources like the New York Times  and other local, regional, and national newspapers and magazines. A central mission of the San Antonio Public Library is to reduce barriers to access and create opportunities for the community to obtain information in ways that meet their needs and wants. Offering digital access to the New York Times is another example of the rich and diverse resources available for free to the public at the San Antonio Public Library.

Bexar County residents can sign up for a San Antonio Public Library card in person at any one of 30 library locations or digitally using a mobile phone number with the Libby app from OverDrive.  Visit mysapl.org or call 210-207-2500 for more information and a map of all 30 San Antonio Public Library locations.
