"I have to write a story today. That is my job. I write stories. But today I don't have any ideas."
Muted collage illustrations using earth tones and occasional bright colors are interspersed with small photographs in Ideas Are All Around by Philip C. Stead. He takes us on a walk with his dog, named Wednesday, as he searches for inspiration. Philip and Wednesday meet a turtle, a squirrel, some birds, and many neighbors. When they are back home, Philip reaches for his old-fashioned typewriter, and "CLAK-CLAK-DING! Together we take a walk on the page."
