San Antonio Public Library Foundation Gifts over $1 Million to the San Antonio Public Library

Mission of the San Antonio Public Library Foundation is to strengthen the Library in service to our community

SAN ANTONIO (November 21, 2016) – The San Antonio Public Library Foundation (SAPLF) gifted the San Antonio Public Library with over $1 million dollars for fiscal year 2016 at its 16th  annual “Board Builder” Meeting. Over 60 board members and special guests attended the meeting at the Argyle where guest speaker Robert Hammond spoke to the crowd.

Mission Branch Library hosts Story “Tellabration”

Professional storytellers share legends, ghost stories and more

On Saturday, November 12 from 2 – 6 p.m., Mission Branch Library will host a Story Tellabration. The event will feature professional storytellers sharing trickster tales, wonder tales, legends, ghost stories and more. 

Teen Musicians Fuse Rock and Mariachi Music at Central Library

“Rock the Plaza” event features local teen musicians including Holmes High School YouTube sensation Mariana Garcia

On Saturday, November 12 from 1 – 4 p.m., Central Library will host the second annual Rock the Plaza event. The event is produced by teens from the Teen Library at Central. Rock the Plaza will feature teen musicians from Take Note, the San Antonio Music Academy, Eclectic Electric, and local high schools. This year’s theme is rock and mariachi fusion.

Altars celebrate the lives and legacies of local Latino political leaders

SAN ANTONIO (November 1, 2016) – The San Antonio Public Library is dedicating this year’s Day of the Dead to two local Latino political leaders whose effect on the San Antonio Community will be felt for decades to come: former Congressman Henry B. Gonzalez and political activist Choco Meza.
